I sat on the moon once with this alien creature, and he said three very important words to me.
He said, ‘Deserve your dreams.’
I worry about you. I worry that this dark world has changed you. That it has made it feel impossible to have anything to believe in.
I worry that you have forgotten what magic feels like. That you don’t realize anymore that it is still alive inside of you.
“Too many people grow up. That’s the real trouble with the world; too many people grow up. They forget. They don’t remember what it’s like to be 12 years old…” –Walt Disney
Remember when we were children, tiny little creatures with the world at our fingertips? Pablo Picasso said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” The world is still there. We just need to reach for it.
We have been taught to believe that negative equals realistic and positive equals unrealistic. But it isn’t true.
I know that life is so hard sometimes. “The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.” If you don’t get up after you fall, you’ll be trampled. You don’t drown by falling into water you only drown if you stay there.
Try. And keep trying. Take control of your life so there is no one to blame. Take risks. Work. And work harder. Dream and then dream bigger so that you deserve those dreams.
You are capable. In fact, you are the most capable, and don’t let anyone tell you different. You are the only one who can use your ability. And that is a great responsibility.
Please don’t be afraid. You are strong. And I am here. And I will always be here to believe in you forever.
“Don’t you understand, Tink? You mean more to me than anything in this whole world!”
Deserve your dreams. “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
